Get Valentine’s shopping, get planting, and show some love to the earth!
The Spekboom (Portulacaria Afra) is an indigenous South African plant making waves in eco-conservation. The hardy plant, found mainly in the Eastern Cape, has been proven to absorb the highest percentage of carbon dioxide in comparison to any other plant on the planet. Said to be up to 10 times more effective at carbon fixing than a tropical rainforest, Spekboom is undoubtedly a wonderplant.
In February 2020, Eastgate Shopping Centre, in association with WWF, encourage customers to Be The Change and inspire climate-positive actions this Valentine’s Day by joining in on the #SpekboomChallenge.
Here are some of the benefits of planting a Spekboom plant in your garden:
Visit Eastgate Shopping Centre’s Krispy Kreme Court between 13 – 15 February for an informative pop-up hosted by WWF talking all-things Spekboom.
