This Mandela Day, Eastgate Shopping Centre supported In Good Company to #CreateTomorrow for matriculants that are determined to succeed despite COVID-19
In honour of Madiba’s life and legacy, Eastgate Shopping Centre celeberated Madiba Day together with In Good Company, to #CreateTomorrow for strongminded matriculants pushing through the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdowns.
COVID-19 has impacted millions of people in South Africa alone, be it financially, socially, mentally or physically. The South African youth are too, heavily challenged by the pandemic and are in need of inspiration to help them get through these uncertain times. This is where In Good Company comes in. In Good Company is an initiative founded in 2014, to empower female senior managers in the workplace and has developed over the years to focus on empowering women in business as well as the youth.
This year, in commemoration of Nelson Mandela’s birthday, In Good Company used their platform to spread messages of hope by hosting over 35 top Grade 11 and Grade 12 students from Ephis Mamkeli Secondary School in Tsakane in 67-minute motivational talks by key South African figures. Speakers included Founder and CEO of In Good Spaces, Jabulile Gwala, Brand South Africa Play your Part Program Manager Keineloe Phakathi, 2019’s Miss South Africa Sasha-Lee Laurel Oliver and Former Kaizer Chief’s Striker Kaizer Motaung Jr. Eastgate Shopping Centre sponsored each student with a R150 Eastgate gift voucher as well as a complimentary Snap Study voucher to encourage them to continue studying online and achieving greatness.
Some major South African companies are on the list of supporters of In Good Company, and this year, Eastgate Shopping Centre humbly stepped forward to collaborate with the initiative as their missions and goals align with the shopping centre’s impact-based campaign, #CreateTomorrow.
CreateTomorrow is an emotive campaign launched by Eastgate’s co-owners Liberty Two Degrees as a way of fostering human action and conversation, while inspiring and encouraging those most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eastgate Shopping Centre believes in the notion that sincere acts of kindness and compassion in a time of crisis goes a long way and Mandela Day, was an amplified occasion through which generosity and inspiration was symbolised.
