Christmas Colour Land, Jazzy Carols, Live Music and more, with extended trading hours for shoppers from 16 –24 December
Johannesburg, 28 November 2022: It’s the most magical time of the year and Eastgate is ready to make your festive dreams come true. Live entertainment and engaging activities are set to delight hearts of all ages, with no stone left unturned in the centre’s quest to make this your best Christmas yet.
For starters, Santa Clause himself will be visiting the centre and will be available for photographs in the Strelitzia Court from 2 – 24 December during the centre’s trading hours. Photography packages starting at R200 will capture this special moment with beautiful gift extensions available.
Designed to make hearts happy, an immersive Christmas Colour Land experience will offer shoppers of all ages the opportunity to express their originality through creating and personalizing their very own custom Christmas tree baubles. Daily workshops, yarn bombing and a giant Christmas-inspired colouring-in wall are just part of the adventures waiting to be had in this area. Slide down the chimney into the ball pit and stand a chance to win great prizes. This fun-filled festive activation will be open daily from 11am – 6pm in the Strelitzia Court from 16 – 31 December, including Christmas day, with a R 25 entry fee applicable.
In the spirit of the season, Eastgate is also giving you ways to light up the lives of those less fortunate. A gift wrapping station will run alongside the Christmas Colour Land, on the same dates and times, in aid of the Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA. For a minimal fee, dependent on the size of the item, the Eastgate wrapping team will ensure that your gifts are wrapped to perfection and ready to take pride of place under any Christmas tree.
Eastgate will also be host to the Disney Festive Tree in support of the Reach for a Dream Foundation. Shoppers will have the opportunity to put a smile on a child’s face for as little as R50. With a simple QR code scan, you can make a contribution to helping the Reach for a Dream Foundation make a memorable difference in the life of a child fighting a life-threatening illness. For every R50 donation received, a Disney soft toy will be delivered from our Christmas tree to theirs.
Known for its love of supporting local musicians, Eastgate’s piazza will come to life on 15 December 2022 with the Jazzy Christmas Carols experience starting at pm. This popular event can be enjoyed while dining at one of the many restaurants such as Piatto, Mozambik and Simply Asia, or while simply enjoying the outdoor ambience. Live performances will take place every Sunday from 2pm to 4pm thereafter, proudly brought to you by Megan Carlse Productions.
From 16 – 24 December, the centre’s over 200 stores will operate with extended trading hours. Shoppers will be spoilt for choice from 9am – 9 pm, with additional time to pick the perfect gift or to enjoy the splendour of the festive décor through the centre’s halls. Be sure to wink at the giant teddy at Entrance 2 and snap a pic on the grand staircase.
The fun continues at the IndyKart indoor go-kart track, the Air360 pump track on the roof top and the award winning cinemas. Voted Best Cinema Complex in the 2022 Best of Joburg Awards, Eastgate’s Ster-Kinekor boasts an iMax and two Cine Prestige 3D theatres and seven Ster-Kinekor cinemas, two of which are 3D-ready, as well as two lounge areas. Utilising the latest in digital projection technology, with crystal clear images and riveting surround sound, this is movie viewing at its best. All of Eastgate’s entertainment attractions will be open throughout the holiday, ready to provide hours of delight.
“We know that 2022 has been a long year for many people and we are ready to join them in ending the year on a high note” said Saadiyah Khan, General Manager for Eastgate Shopping Centre. “We can’t wait to welcome visitors to the centre and for them to experience everything we have planned, with loads of activities and extended trading hours, to cater to all this festive season” she added.
